6-STEPS SKIN CARE ROUTINE
As a skin care company with thousands of customers, we are asked almost on a daily basis questions about our different skin care products and how to use them correctly. –
Some of the most frequent questions are:
“What is the right order to layer your skin care products?”
“How long does it take for a serum to absorb?”
“Should I apply my serum before or after my moisturizer?”
As busy women, we don’t always have time to invest in long facial treatments but if you follow these SIX super easy steps, you can be sure that your skin care goes on perfectly and your skin will look and feel smoother, younger and more radiant all day long.
Best Practice Tips!
TIP 1
Applying your skin care products properly and in the correct order will ensure that the products work as they're intended to and that your skin receives the full benefits of each.
TIP 2
We're all busy - and it's ok to cut some (only some) corners.. Use multi-tasking skin care products, e.g. a Hyaluronic Acid Serum with Vitamin C, a day-time Moisturizer with Peptides or a Night Cream with Retinol.
TIP 3
Take a few minutes to allow each product to absorb into the skin before applying the next product.
For example, after applying your serum, brush your teeth and only then apply moisturizer.
Your 6-Easy-To-Remember-Steps
1. CLEANSER & TONER
Cleanse your face thoroughly with gentle facial soap, a scrub or a cleansing brush (we love those electric cleansing brushes now…)
Then swipe a toner with a cotton pad to remove any excess oil and dirt. These two steps are super important as the leave your skin fresh and allow for better penetration of the other skin care products in your regimen.
2. SERUMS
Serums should not be applied only around the eyes – but on your entire face and neck.
These concentrated treatments should be applied to the skin as the first step so they can easily absorb into the skin without other products getting in the way.
You can layer a couple of serums on top of each to target different skin concerns, but give them each a minute or so to absorb:
Use Hyaluronic Acid Serum to add moisture to your skin and remove fine lines and wrinkles, a Peptides enriched serum for wrinkles or an Oxygen enriched serum to boost radiance and vitality of the skin.
3. ANTI OXIDANTS
4. EYE CREAM
Good eye cream is essential, as the delicate area around the eyes tends to be very dry and to develop those fine lines and crow’s feet, even if you are in your early 30’s.
So keeping this area moisturized is a great idea.
In addition, an eye cream will minimize early morning puffiness, keep your eyes look bright and awake and reduce crow's feet.
Apply an eye cream and then avoid this area with additional creams, as layering multiple products can irritate this area's sensitive skin.
5. MOISTURIZER
Whether a daytime moisturizing cream or a nourishing retinoid-based night cream – this is a key step of the layering process.
Moisturizers are not only meant to keep your skin well hydrated but also are designed to seal in the serums, so that they can work their magic in your skin.
Treat your moisturizer application like a mini-massage by using circular motions from your neck up to your forehead to help improve circulation — and to achieve a radiant glow!
6. SUNSCREEN (DAY)
In the morning - sunscreen is a vital component of your skincare routine — don’t forget about it! Especially when you are using serums with active ingredients (such as our hyaluronic acid serum) and you want to keep them working all day long and not be interrupted by the damaging UV rays.
Sunscreen is the last thing you put on your face (that is, before your makeup) because it sits on top of your skin, so if it goes on first, it prevents other ingredients from penetrating.
